How it works

Hosted Exchange is a fully outsourced solution provided via Microsoft’s Hosted Messaging and Collaboration Platform (HMC 4.0) and leverages off the proven functionality and stability of Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft SQL and Microsoft Forefront.

The solution is architected to provide a high level of resiliency and uptime, making use of multiple Frontend servers, database servers, redundant switches and multiple firewalls. The HMC platform runs on 64-bit architecture allowing for increased scalability and performance. The entire platform is backed up utilizing Microsoft Data Protection Manager to ensure that all client data is fully protected.

E-mail security is provided utilizing the Microsoft Forefront product range which utilizes multiple scanning engines for anti-virus and anti-spam filtering ensuring that your e-mail is always protected.

Mobile Users can access the Hosted Exchange platform from a wide variety of devices and benefit from a rich Outlook experience on capable devices. For devices that support the Outlook client, additional search features are available as well as the ability to manage out of office (OOF) status and messages.

Monitoring	Advanced monitoring through Microsoft Operations Management (MOM) software is performed on all servers along with notification of any issues (this is for internal monitoring and management).
Blackberry Enterprise	Blackberry Enterprise allows full synchronisation of Hosted Exchange to any device using Blackberry Software

Minimum requirement: XP with Service pack 2 and Outlook 2003 with Service pack 2 to make use of Hosted Exchange Solution.

The schedule below provides indicative timeframes for provisioning Hosted Exchange mail. Please note that these times exclude 3^rd party involvement, for example: domain registration and ADSL connectivity.
